Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Homey Work?

We partner with estate agents and homeowners to get every home renovated and upgraded, future proofed and ready for market. From minor repairs to major full renovations, homey specialises in improvements that increase the home's value and reduce the number of days on market, and we defer all payment until sale settlement - with no interest or fees ever.

Are there any fees or interest charges?

Nope. There are no additional fees or interest charges. The only thing homeowners pay for is the home renovation works — just like they would with an ordinary contractor. The only difference is that we are paid for our work at sale settlement.

Is there an income requirement or a credit check involved?

There are no minimum income or credit requirements, and we require no money before settlement. Our decision to take on a project is based on the homeowner’s equity. We do however have a stringent property selection, we cannot unfortunately say yes to each and every project. We use our own valuation tools to predict the value we believe any renovations may add and based on that alongside a number of factors we take our decision.

Which cities does Homey operate in?

Our physical office is in Edinburgh, and we operate in the following areas across Scotland, typically within a 40 mile radius of the area.

  • Glasgow
  • Fife
  • Livingston
  • Edinburgh
  • London (Coming Soon)

The Homey Process

What happens if the home doesn’t sell?

All homes will eventually sell and we’ll wait as long as it takes to get paid.

There is generally no time limit, but we do require the house to remain on the market until it sells, unless the homeowner decides to pay Homey directly for the works completed. This is rare as most homeowners looking to sell their property have already mentally checked out of it.

What type of work do you do?

We handle all types of pre-sale renovation projects inside and outside of the home — whatever is required to get the house move-in ready.

Who does the work?

We generally work with a network of carefully approved, vetted and insured subcontractors for our projects. For some projects, there will be homey staff completing the work. All contracts managers are full time employees of Homey.

What types of materials do you use? Do you only use cheap materials?

No and this goes entirely against why we do what we do. Our job is to create a more move in ready home for the prospective buyer and we offer a one year guarantee and all of our works. For this reason, we only work with the best materials. Kitchen worktops, flooring, carpet, paint colours and types of slab—we hand select the materials in our portfolios based on their performance in   previous projects. We use high-quality materials that result in amazing transformations, and because we operate at scale, our prices are very competitive.
